Structural and decorative
We build true retaining walls that manage grade changes and slopes, raised planting beds that clean up the front of a house, and natural stone seating walls that double as patio structure. Each one gets the same treatment: excavated base trench, compacted aggregate, level first course, and drainage designed in from the start.
Behind every structural wall goes clean stone and a perforated drain pipe, because water pressure is what pushes walls over - not the soil itself. Taller walls get geogrid reinforcement tied back into the slope.
Materials that fit the house
Segmental block systems give crisp lines and big retention strength. Natural stone - flagstone, outcropping, boulder walls - fits older homes and softer landscapes. We'll show you options at the walkthrough against your actual grade and house, and we're straight about what each costs to build and maintain.
Fixing failed walls
A good share of our wall work is rebuilding someone else's shortcut - walls leaning after a few winters because the base or drainage was skipped. We tear out, correct the grade and drainage, and rebuild it once, correctly.

Frequently asked questions
Why do retaining walls fail?
Almost always water and base prep. Without a compacted base, drainage stone, and a drain pipe behind the wall, freeze-thaw and hydrostatic pressure push it out of line within a few seasons. We build all three into every structural wall.
Do I need an engineer or permit for my wall?
Depends on height and your town - many Fox Valley municipalities require permits or engineering above 3 to 4 feet of retained height. We know the local thresholds and handle the paperwork when it applies.
What does a retaining wall cost?
We give a firm, itemized number after a free walkthrough - every project is different, and we'd rather measure than guess.
