A lot of our deck work is replacing structures from the 80s and 90s that have reached the end of their life - weathered boards, undersized framing, and connections that don't meet today's code. We tear out, re-engineer the framing, and rebuild with modern fastening, flashing, and footing details so the new deck outlasts the old one by decades.
New builds start with how you'll actually use the space - grilling, dining, a hot tub, stairs to the yard - and we design the framing around those loads from day one.
Built to code, built to last
Every deck we build follows current IRC requirements: properly sized footings below frost depth, ledger attachment with lag or through-bolt connections and flashing, joist hangers and hardware rated for treated lumber, and guardrails and stairs that pass inspection the first time.
We work in pressure-treated pine, cedar, and composite decking, and we'll talk honestly about the tradeoffs - upfront cost, maintenance, and how each holds up in our climate.
Pergolas and shade structures
Pergolas are our signature add-on - real post-and-beam construction with shaped rafter tails, not a bolt-together kit. Over a deck or a patio, they define the space and take the edge off the summer sun, and they pair naturally with privacy screens and lighting.

Do you handle permits and inspections?
Yes. We handle the drawings, permit submission, and inspection scheduling with your municipality. Fox Valley towns each have their own quirks and we work in them week in, week out.
How long does a deck build take?
A typical deck runs 1 to 2 weeks of build time once permits are in hand. Rebuilds that include demo of the old structure add a few days. We give you the full schedule with the quote.
