Designed, not just installed
Good lighting is placement and restraint - a few well-aimed fixtures beat a runway of path lights. We design around how you use the yard at night: light the steps and grade changes for safety, uplight the trees and structures that give the yard depth, and keep the glare out of your eyes and your neighbor's windows.
Everything we install is professional-grade low voltage - buried wire runs, brass and aluminum fixtures that survive Illinois winters and mower season, and transformers with astronomical timers so it runs itself year round.
Built into the project or added after
The best time to wire lighting is during a patio, wall, or deck build, when conduit and wire go in before the surface does. But most of our lighting work is retrofit - adding lighting to an existing landscape - and low-voltage systems make that clean, with shallow buried runs and no electrician required for most installs.
Step lights in stone, downlights from pergolas, wash lighting on the house facade, and moonlighting from mature trees are all on the menu.
Why it matters beyond looks
Lit steps and paths are a safety issue every month of the year, and dark-sky-conscious fixtures keep the light where it belongs. Lighting also extends your outdoor season - spring and fall evenings get several usable hours back.

Frequently asked questions
Is low-voltage lighting expensive to run?
No - modern LED low-voltage fixtures draw a fraction of the power of old halogen systems. A full-yard system typically costs a few dollars a month to run, and astronomical timers mean it only runs when it's actually dark.
Can you add lighting to a landscape you didn't build?
Yes. Most of our lighting installs are retrofits. Low-voltage runs are shallow-buried, so we can light an existing patio, walkway, or tree line without tearing anything up.
What does landscape lighting cost?
We give a firm, itemized number after a free walkthrough - every property is different, and we'd rather measure than guess.
